Dr. McGarry’s goal is to provide valuable perspective and guidance on biomedical research protocol design and laboratory animal care and use practices as they apply to basic and preclinical research programs.  This may include:

• design of facilities from concept to commission and operations in collaboration with architects, contractors and owners;

• evaluation of operational efficiencies and sufficiencies;

• research protocol development, especially as related to study design, techniques and technology assessment;

• facility preparation for or response to external review.

His approach is professional, yet personal, and is focused to build excellence in the programs to which he contributes.

Dr. McGarry uniquely combines extensive experience:

•  as a published/funded scientist (see selected REFERENCES) using multiple species in conventional, containment and barrier applications;

• as a collaborator/contract research Project Director for intra- and extramural studies in cancer therapeutics, cardiovascular disease, immunology, radiobiology and gene therapy;

• having developed and managed 2 major Lab Animal Resource programs (RPCIC and ASU) including concept/design, construction oversight and commissioning of 4 new care and use facilities (40k nsf, 34k nsf, 14k nsf and 3.2k nsf) including ABSL.3 suites in the 2 larger facilities, recruitment and training of staff and fiscal administration.
